JUPEB Grading System and Points Explained
Your JUPEB result decides whether you enter 200 level, so it helps to know exactly how the points are counted.
Grades and points
According to the JUPEB official FAQ, each subject is graded like this:
- A = 5 points
- B = 4 points
- C = 3 points
- D = 2 points
- E = 1 point
- F = 0 points (a failed grade)
The bonus point
JUPEB adds 1 extra point when a candidate scores A, B, C, D or E in all three subjects. Passing every subject is worth more than an A in one and an F in another.
What the result is for
A candidate who passes JUPEB gets direct entry admission into 200 level at a Nigerian university. The JUPEB FAQ says the result can be used within three admission years, and each university sets its own cut-off points for each course, so check the requirement for your course.
How to raise your points
- Aim to pass all three subjects first: the bonus point rewards consistency.
- Practise with real papers. Each subject's Paper I has 50 objectives and 8 essay questions, and the same topics come back year after year.
- Study your mistakes, not just your scores. Our past-questions method shows how.
